Why Alternative Pain Management?

There are 4 quadrants of pain management: Pharmacological, Physical, Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Cognitive and Behavioral. Many patients with chronic pain are limited to solely pharmacological treatment, which limits the patient in terms of the suggested multi-modal approach to chronic pain management.

Complementary and alternative pain management in addition to chronic opioid treatment for pain is shown to be a much more effective treatment plan than sole opioid treatment and is strongly suggested by the Surgeon General. This website aims to make resources for pain management more readily accessible and provide a wide range for patients and providers to use.
